Ruger has improved their barrels over recent years, and while most folks would never call them 'match grade', they make a pretty solid hunting rifle platform. But the triggers are universally long, heavy, and massively accuracy hurting.
Our trigger work is simple. We reshape, polish, and tune parts as needed. Our triggers will usually end up between 2-2.5lbs. Every rifle is a little different and the trigger weight is partly determined by the firearm, but we will get as close as possible to your requested number.
Typically, we recommend a 2.5lb pull weight for a hunting trigger. We can usually go down to 2lbs for a target build or an experienced hunter. If you want to go up to 3lbs we can make that happen. That said, unless you have some very clear reason for that heavy of a trigger, we feel that you aren't getting your money's worth, and 99.9% of folks will be much happier with the 2.5lb flavour.
When finished, regardless of pull weight, you will have a nice crisp break. The trigger will not release if the firearm is dropped, bumped, or if the bolt is closed hard.
You will be able to specify trigger pull weight when you check out. Again, we will try and go to whatever weight you request, but the gun will determine if that can happen. We've never had one that wouldn't go down to 2.5lbs; 2lbs is occasionally to light.
You will need to ship us the complete firearm. If you can remove any optics or slings, that would be great. But we need the complete barreled action, bolt, and stock. Yes it's a hassle finding a big enough box and being without your rifle, but I guaranty you wont find better results at a better price anywhere.
Everything is shipped to our PO Box. We pick up and process a batch every Wednesday, so the Wed after it arrives you will get an email from us. We will do the work over the following week and ship it that next Wed. So obviously door to door time will vary depending shipping times, but it will spend one week in our shop.
