Ruger builds a reliable firearm. But no one said their triggers were good. Like... ever. We can fix that.
THIS IS FOR SERVICES ON YOUR TRIGGER ONLY!!!! NO TRIGGER GROUPS ARE FOR SALE!!!
Note: We do not give you an option for trigger weight. They all fall between 3 and 3.5lbs. This may be heavier or lighter than you are used to, but after all our customers have the trigger in hand, everyone agrees that it is a huge improvement, and a great feeling trigger. If you have a preference within that weight range, you can request that on the note you include with the trigger, but these Mini triggers simply do not allow as much adjustment to weight as other firearms do.
We include the overtravel stop behind the trigger on every Mini trigger we do. There are a few very old Minis which have a different trigger guard, which doesn't allow us to do that modification, but I would say that's less than 2% of the Mini groups we see. I will try and get more information and pictures, but at this point you can assume that your trigger group is getting an overtravel stop.
Like the Ruger 10/22, the Mini 14 filled a niche in a way few other firearms have. They have been wildly popular for decades, with current models leaving the shelves faster than ever. However the shear popularity of their firearms, along with a few other business factors, have made Ruger a target for lawsuits over the years. In an effort to combat this, Ruger tends to produce remarkably heavy triggers handicapping their otherwise solid firearms.
THE TRIGGER JOB
This service is for a basic trigger job. No parts are swapped during this work. Unlike the 10/22, the Mini 14 has a fairly solid, quality, trigger group, which usually only needs some judicious shaping, polishing, and spring work to get a vastly improved trigger pull. There is a degree of art/technique involved in the process, and that's where a qualified gunsmith comes in. We will smooth and lighten the pre-travel in the trigger, create a crisp and clean break at a significantly lighter weight, and install an overtravel stop. That stop will improve the theoretical accuracy of your firearm, produce a cleaner feeling break, and will greatly reduce the trigger reset distance. On these groups there is a limit to how light you can go and still have it be safe. The lower limit on these groups is generally 3lbs, give or take a little.
Keep in mind that this is a two stage trigger. When you start to pull the trigger there will be some 'take up' as you compress the trigger return spring, typically about 1.5lbs worth of pressure. You are then going to 'hit the wall' where the trigger movement stops. At this point (assuming a 3lb trigger pull) you only need apply an additional 1.5lbs of pressure for the trigger to break. It might not be what you are used to, but the result is that a 3lb two stage trigger will feel lighter than a 3lb single stage.
Before it leaves our shop, we will inspect and test for feel, final pull weight, and safety. That includes the manual safety, proper sear engagement, and proper disconector engagement and tension. A positive sear/hammer engagement is maintained so that the firearm will not discharge if accidentally bumped or dropped. The disconector engagement is checked, and sometimes even increased, to ensure there is no chance of firing multiple rounds with a single pull, regardless of how light that pull is.
We offer a 100% money back guaranty on all our work.
Obviously we are trying to run a business, but if our customers are not happy, we will not have a business for long.
We do whatever we can to ensure our customers are fully satisfied both with their product and their service.
$9.50 return shipping and handling will be added to your order when you check out, regardless of how much you purchase. Once you have purchased this service our website will automatically send you a confirmation email with all of the shipping and packaging instructions. If you do not get one, check your spam or trash folders. If you still don't see it, you can visit our shipping information page here
We have a one week or less turnaround on triggers. As of August 2016, we are processing triggers on Tuesday and Friday. So if your trigger arrives on a Monday, you wont get an email saying that it's arrived until Tuesday. (In other words, stop panicking if you don't get an email from us the same day your shipper said it arrived.) You will get another email with a tracking number no more than one week after the first saying that it's finished and shipped. We will notify you if it will be longer than one week for whatever reason, and we will let you know the reason for the delay.
Thanks for your interest! Feel free to contact us at any point, and happy shooting.
