Remington 700 Bolt Knob Threading
This takes care of the factory Remington 'football' on the end of your bolt...
These knobs make a huge difference in the feel of your rifle. The additional leverage makes the action feel smoother and lighter, as well as making it easier to extract stuck cartridges. They also extended the length of the bolt handle, keeping more skin on your knuckles and off of the scope! We use the best system possible to fit these things. A lot of folks cut off the existing bolt handle and just thread the shank. This makes the finished length not much more than the original bolt handle. We fix the whole bolt in the lathe and turn down the bolt knob into a shank, then single point thread it and install the knob. Everything is fitted and blended to look smooth and professional. This will give you the most professional and longest bolt knob possible. We've hunted far and wide, and haven't found anyone who blends the knobs as smoothly as we do. These will look like a factory fit when you get it back... only better.
Since we blend the shank in with the knob, your bolt handle will need to be refinished. We Cerakote every handle after it's done, and you can pick the color. We do NOT Cerakote the whole bolt, only the bolt handle. With the advent of the new Cerakote Elite, that may be changing... stay tuned on that.
The bolt knob that we stock is the PTG Knurled Teardrop knob. It's just about perfect all around. If you have another knob that you would like to use, just send it in with your bolt and we will make it happen. The bolt knob needs to be threaded 5/6 x 24, which is pretty much the standard.
